Description
A 2016 raw-flour outbreak sickened 63 people across 24 states (CDC). Make edible cookie dough safely with no raw egg and heat-treated flour.
Ingredients
1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour, heat-treated and cooled
1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup (110g) packed brown sugar
1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
2 to 4 tbsp milk
3/4 cup (130g) mini chocolate chips
Instructions
1
Heat-treat the flour first: bake at 350°F for 5 minutes or microwave in 30-second bursts to 165°F, then let it cool completely.
2
Beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy, about 2 minutes.
3
Mix in the vanilla and salt.
4
Add the cooled flour and stir until combined. The dough will look thick.
5
Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the dough is soft and scoopable.
6
Fold in the chocolate chips. Chill 15 minutes for a firmer texture, or eat right away.
